Bartlett - Established 1884 in New York City

In my garden this plant has been the most valuable I have grown. Nothing glamorous, in fact quite the opposite yet perfect value for money - the humble perennial polygonum.
It will grow in the most ordinary soil and in shade as well as full sun, although plants grown in the shade will be smaller with less flowers. In a sunny position it is possible to have 40 flowers on a one year old plant. If you start of with a small clump it will be a sizeable plant the following year and it doersn't mind being regularly split into smaller plants.

The flowers will easily last 5 weeks in May/June and the bonus is that if you pull the flower stalks off when the flowers have faded you will get a second lot of flowers later in the year.
